Belarusian International Media Forum “Partnership for the Future”

The Ministry of Information holds an annual Belarusian Information Forum which is an important event in the social and political life of the country, aimed at addressing public information policy objectives.
The ultimate goal of the event is to consolidate efforts of the international journalistic community in developing a positive view of the Belarusian realities, to involve leading journalists from the former Soviet Union and far abroad in the coverage of sustainable development processes going on in the country and in building interest of foreign countries in the Republic of Belarus, to ensure recognition of Belarus as a sovereign state pursuing an open and transparent policy and upholding the principles of good neighbourliness, peace and mutual understanding, to focus the attention of the international community on preservation of historical memory, to bring together the expert and media community in the light of current challenges and threats.
This goal is facilitated by holding the thematic plenary meeting and familiarizing leading journalists and experts from CIS countries and beyond with Belarusian life.
The concept of a media forum envisages a number of diversified events that provoke a significant public response. The Forum plenary meeting provides for the discussion of a broad range of issues not only by mass media experts, but also by representatives of political and business communities. Moreover, the theme of the Media Forum is determined every year by the most urgent problems facing the international community.
The Belarusian International Media Forum is held in Belarus annually since 2006.
The Forum is traditionally organized by the following actors: the Ministry of Information, the Belarusian Union of Journalists with the support of the Union State Standing Committee, the CIS Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Сulture, the CIS Executive Committee, regional executive committees, Minsk City Executive Committee.
Over the years, the Belarusian International Media Forum “Partnership for the Future” has become a significant international project that brings together representatives of the expert and media community from CIS countries and beyond to discuss topical issues that world nations have to tackle in the process of their current development. For years, the Forum name has stayed the same - “Partnership for the Future”. However, it is modified a little with adding a few words that reflect the theme and the participants of the Forum. The Media Forum generally serves as a discussion platform to exchange views and develop new ideas and concepts.
Over the years, the Forum has attracted reputable political analysts, experts, directors of leading media from the CIS countries, Baltic states and beyond (over 20 countries).
The Forum is usually accompanied with the Summer School of Journalism for young journalists and senior students of the BSU Institute of Journalism with master classes from leading Belarusian and foreign journalists.
The result of the Forum is a series of articles and reports aimed at strengthening the image of Belarus as a dynamically developing, socially-oriented state.
